159th Beachburg Fair is this weekend

BEACHBURG — The 159th edition of the Beachburg Fair starts Friday at 10 a.m. with the 4-H Achievement Dairy Day and ends late Sunday afternoon with the famous barbeque chicken being served starting at 1:30 p.m. and onwards
There’s something for everyone, whether it be going on the thrilling carnival rides, playing the carnival games, or watching the various agricultural shows, such as beef, sheep, rabbit, dairy, checking out the RAM Rodeo, listening to the variety of entertainment, checking the vendors in the arena and around the grounds, or maybe just walking around and taking it all in.
Entry to the fair this year is $50 for a weekend pass; $15 on Friday and $20 on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online by going to http://beachburgfair.com/tickets/ or purchasing them at various businesses, including Olmstead’s Home Hardware in Cobden, Scotiabank in Beachburg or Kenny’s Store in Westmeath, as well as at the gates.
Beachburg Fair president Adrian Vereyken wrote, “This year’s theme is Country Pride, Country Wide, and I encourage all of you to share in the pride that we all feel for our great fair and great community….We look forward to seeing the many families who make it a tradition to attend the Beachburg Fair each year and we are excited to meet new people and hope they will make it a tradition in the future.”
On opening day, the gates and midway opens at 2 p.m. with the official opening and crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Beachburg at 6 p.m. The demolition derby and the dairy cattle show begins at 7:30 p.m. with the midway closing at 11 p.m.
The fun begins early Saturday morning with a Cowboy Breakfast at 8 a.m., the fair gates opening at 9 a.m. and plenty of activity throughout the rest of the day, including the petting zoo, dancers at the entertainment stage; beef cattle show at noon, pet show at 1 p.m., face painting in the children’s area at 3 p.m., the RAM Rodeo shows at 2 and 4 p.m., and the Little Buckaroos in the ball diamond at 5 p.m. The midway closes at 11 p.m.
Sunday morning, the gates open at 9 with the ecumenical church service beginning 30 minutes later as well as the horse pull. At 10 a.m., the 4H Sheep show begins and at noon there is free pony rides. The RAM Rodeo show is at 1 p.m. and the barbecue chicken dinner begins at 1:30 p.m.
Throughout the weekend there are exhibits throughout the grounds, in the arena and the Heritage Hall. There is family entertainment, children’s activities, Bavarian Gardens and the dining hall will be serving food.
