The 42nd Cobden Terry Fox Walk takes place on Sunday, September 18th at Logos Land Outside of Cobden.
This is will be the first open, in-person walk since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020.
In the two years since then, Cobden held Virtual Runs and collected donations numbering $5,705 in 2020 and $4955 in 2021.
The previous in-person run in 2019 had 84 participants and raised $6195.
The fundraiser provides money to cancer research and has been running 42 years.
It is named for Terry Fox, a Canadian athlete who was diagnosed with cancer in 1976, and ran across Canada over 143 days and 5,373 kilometres despite the amputation of his right leg before his health required he stop.
He died of his cancer n June 28, 1981 at the age of 22.
See the back of this issue for details on how to donate or participate in this year’s run.
