A BLAST FROM THE PAST

William Ferguson’s barn under construction on the Queens Line. This gang of men helping with the construction, which was sometime in the 1940s, could have included Jim Jack, Reuben Oattes and Albert Wallace. Wearing no safety harnesses, the men stand freely on the frame.
The machine in the foreground is a wheelscraper, which is similar to the backhoe of today.
We believe the young child on the right hand side is Vernon Ferguson, who is the son of William Ferguson.
The farm where the barn still stands was recently purchased by Wilfred and Karen Duncan from Shirley and Ron Kasaboski .
