The sand dome in Westmeath received a $200,000 facelift as the 30-year-old worn-out tarp was replaced with a galvanized steel dome. The contract was awarded to Triodetic of Arnprior but Dennis Wren of Cobden did the work, which took about a month. The cost was around $200,000, noted public works manager Bill Misener. The tarp was about 30 years old, he said, noting Joey Trimm was the road supervisor for Westmeath Township at the time. The dome is now filled with sand for this winter.
