WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Federal Government intends to raise taxes on employers (small business), working professionals (doctors, lawyers, dentists, veterinarians, etc.) and the self-employed (farmers, loggers, mechanics, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, builders, etc.), noted Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant.
She is hosting a special meeting next Thursday evening, Sept. 28, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cobden Agricultural Hall. Tax experts will be on hand to explain the proposed changes and there will be opportunity for questions and answers.
The Federal Government has set Monday, October 2 as the deadline to hear objections, the MP noted.
“I need to hear from you to pass on your opinion,” she said. “Do not give this government a blank cheque to make changes that could cost your career and livelihood.”
