Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 10 domestic disputes during the past week. No criminal offences were alleged. Break and Enter
A home on Lorne Street North in Renfrew was broken into between 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17 and 4 p.m. on Monday, June 18. The back door was forced open and jewelry was stolen from the home. Physical evidence was seized and Provincial Constable (PC) Marc Bennett is investigating.
Thefts
OPP officers investigated 12 calls related to thefts during the past week. Stolen property included gasoline, trailers, bicycles, and jewelry and prescription medicines.
Impaired Drivers
On Monday, June 18 at approximately 5 .am., PC Jason Golds stopped a motor vehicle on Highway 17 near Haley Station for a traffic infraction. The male driver admitted he was a suspended and disqualified driver. He was arrested and seated in the police cruiser. The officer then learned the male had been drinking the previous night and subsequently failed a roadside alcohol screening test. Following further breath tests at the detachment the charges were compiled. Daniel Florent, aged 49 of Eganville, was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, breach of probation, 4 counts of driving while disqualified and 3 counts of driving while suspended. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
On Thursday, June 21 just before 1 p.m., PC Jason Golds stopped a motorcycle driver on Mill Street in Calabogie for driving with no licence plate. The investigation revealed several other driving infractions, and that the male driver had been drinking. He failed a roadside alcohol screening test and was arrested. He was taken to the OPP detachment for further breath tests. Andrew Mikolic, aged 47 of St. Catharines, was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, driving with no insurance, driving with an improper licence and driving with no licence plates. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, July 18 for the criminal charges and on Friday, July 20 for the provincial offences. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
