RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) – On Thursday, June 6 at 12:30pm, officials from across Renfrew County will join the Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance and Discovery Routes Trails Organization to showcase the expanded Voyageur Cycling Route. Once fully-connected, the Voyageur Cycling Route will connect communities in Northeastern Ontario to the County of Renfrew and Lanark County to the Nation’s Capital in a 645km cycling route.

Nikki Berry, Constituency Assistant to MPP Yakabuski and Ray Westgarth, an Ontario Trillium Foundation volunteer, will attend the event and will formally present Discovery Routes with a plaque to mark the work done as a result of receiving a grant from the Foundation.

The event in Pembroke is part of a 4-day mobile workshop where experienced cyclists will be evaluating the eastern expansion of the Voyageur Cycling Route. Jennifer McCourt, Executive Director of Discovery Routes, will be talking about this exciting project and its expected impact in the community.

The event will take place on Thursday, June 6 and will start at 12:30 p.m. It will be held at the Pembroke Memorial Centre’s (PMC) Overflow Parking Lot off of Lake Street, adjacent to the Algonquin Trail. PMC is located at 393 Pembroke St. W., Pembroke, ON.
