WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region has requested a report on “Farm 911: The Emily Project,” and are considering implementing the project in Whitewater Region.
According to the document, The Emily Project is a civic addressing (911 signs) on rural properties at currently unmarked field entrances to help avoid tragedies like Emily’s.
The average estimated cost for one of these signs in Whitewater Region is $161.45, but you do have the choice between four sign types. The existing fee for one of these signs in Whitewater Region is $75 per sign.
The project recommends training farm employees and family members on emergency response procedures, first aid, and general awareness of farm and field locations.
Concerns over costs possibly increasing once the program is advertised arose but it is assumed the costs would be spread over a period of time and could be absorbed within the operating budget.
