Greetings from the Women’s Institute for the District of North Renfrew. The following branch has reported on their meeting and activities for the month of February 2020.
In Foresters Falls, five members of the branch met at 1:00 p.m. on February 21, in the basement of Trinity United Church. President Betty Black welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with the singing of the Ode and repeating Mary Stewart Collect in unison. Minutes of the Dec. meeting were read and approved. The correspondence was read. A notice was received to remind us that February is “Bears, Blankets and Books” month. We are going to contact the local Fire Department and OPP to see if they could use donations of these items. It was suggested that each member bring feminine hygiene products to the next meeting as they are expensive and often not included in donations to the Food Bank or Shelters. Information regarding the Provincial Conference to be held in Huntsville on June 5 and 6 has been received. Registration is $250 with a deadline of April 30. A receipt from the Bonnechere Manor Foundation for the donation the Branch made in memory of Lila Rankin was received. The Fair List has been received and some ideas were discussed. Betty distributed copies of the recipes from our branch and the Queen’s Line Branch. The recipes were part of the Roll Call for our shared meeting in November. The District Quilt Raffle that our branch is in charge of this year was discussed at length. A Queen size quilt was chosen. Paperwork to obtain the licence was completed. Plans to have the tickets printed were also discussed. Volunteer sheets were completed. Alisa Page reported on the District Directors’ meeting she and Eleanor Waite attended on February 10 in Greenwood. The District Annual will be held on May 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Greenwood. There will be a Women’s Fair for International Women’s Day on March 6 at the Cobden Legion. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. Tea and snacks were enjoyed.
