The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved entering into a two-year agreement with MLES for continued by-law enforcement services.

Clerk Miller said that the cost will go up to $14,489 with the new agreement, which would be in two one-year extensions so they can evaluate ‘if it continues to serve the needs of the municipality.”

Councillor Nicholson asked if the enforcement cannot be made user-pay, if the user can be fined.

“At ten hours a week [$30/hour], this is the most cost-effective. We have looked at other options, but this is the most cost-effective method for us. “CAO Trembley said. “We do do cost reduction when we can.”

Mayor Moore asked what the protocol was to report back for by-law enforcement.

CAO Trembley said they have to report back monthly, and the stats would be included “likely in the quarterly report.”

There were no other questions and the motion was carried.
