Nothing ruins spring for me more than the Sunshine List of public servants making over a hundred grand a year. I am all for everyone striving (and getting) as much as they can but not when it is outside the forces of a market economy. I couldn’t make the list nor could the vast majority of private sector workers in Renfrew County, which makes the whole notion of public sector union monopoly inherently wrong and economically destructive.
When the public sector pay/benefits overwhelmingly exceeds the private sector, where do your best and brightest want to go? Duh! So, instead of our best creating jobs, growing the economy, advancing science etc, we get more regulation, more red tape and bigger government departments. Sad.
