WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) —
The Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS) came before the Council of the Township of Whitewater Region last week to discuss the Annual Provincial Safety Truck Roadeo.
Steve Boland was pleased to announce they will be hosting the 2019 AORS Annual Provincial Safety Truck Roadeo. He stated the event will be held at the Township of Laurentian Valley Municipal Building on September 11. It will showcase the professional and safe driving skills of the best municipal truck and equipment operators from across Ontario.
According to Mr. Boland, the Roadeo is to intended to promote safety, develop driving skills and provide the contestants with an opportunity to gain individual recognition and personal achievement.
Approximately 45 Municipal drivers will be representing their local associations and will compete for cash, prizes and the ‘John Gloor Memorial Trophy’ – the best equipment operator award in Ontario Public Works.
In addition to the competition on September 11, the RCRSA is planning to have a meet-and-greet session on September 10. They will also host a trade show setup for viewing during the day on September 11.
Mr. Boland advised the Roadeo and trade show will also be open to members of the public who may wish to attend and invited members of Council to attend as well.
