Staff, family, trustees, fellow graduates — on this day and time we are here to see your favourite kids graduate. Six hours a day, 5 days a week. We have been here in this very building for 10 long years, from 4 to 14 and some of us 3 to 13. Some 12,000 hours. From Mrs. Kendra’s magical wand to Mr. Schwan’s math is fun, fun is math. It’s not fun by the way. We are happy to share this special moment with the amazing people we have been growing up with and those who have helped us grow up along the way.
We have a few thank yous to pass out:
Mr. Schwan…thank you for teaching us all of the things we need to know for the upcoming years. Also for not getting mad when we don’t hand our things in on time and thanks for when you say, I Don’t Know.
Mrs. Wren…thank you for all those great moments like dancing out at WE-Day. Every time I see you, you have a smile on your face, except when Mr. Schwan forgets the attendance.
Mrs. Jody…thank you. You have been a great role model to the school and we, the graduating class, all appreciate what you have done for us. We especially had the pleasure of being Mrs. Jody’s students and creating family and friends’ books that really touched our hearts.
Mrs. Adams…You exposed us to the beauty and creativity of art and colour, and also had the pleasure of doing art.
We would also like to thank all of the other teachers, staff and volunteers who have helped us do read’n, rite’n and rithamatic. You have always set us on the right path in life. We will miss being able to come here everyday. All of you teachers have prepared us for this very moment and all of the ones that are coming. We are sure you’ll do the same for the other students who will graduate in the future. We can’t thank you enough for everything you all have done for us and are going to do in the future.
But, in September, a lot will change. We won’t know the teachers. We will be in a much larger place with many new discoveries to be had. When we were younger we wanted to be a princess or a rock star, now we want to be a linguist or a reporter.
Like Henry Ford once said, Teamwork, coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is a success.
Just remember this my friends. We may go our separate ways next year but all of the 10 of us who are here this evening, we will always be our own family no matter how far away we are from one another. We are a team of 10 – Hailey, Melody, Angela, Emma, Mackenzie, Natalie, Marissa, Tyson, Bailey and Cole – we can do anything. We have stayed together through thick and thin and with what we have learned from those who care about us, we have the power to succeed.
Thank you for listening.
