PEMBROKE — Bonnechere Valley Township Mayor Jennifer Murphy has been acclaimed as Warden of the County of Renfrew for a second term. Councillor Murphy was nominated by fellow Councillor and Past-Warden Janice Visneskie Moore, with Councillor Robert Kingsbury as Seconder.
Warden Murphy will officially accept the Chain of Office for her second term following a brief ceremony at the inaugural session of County Council to be held on Tuesday, December 12.
Warden Murphy intends to continue pressing ahead on key issues of importance to County Council.
“As a Council we will make sure both Provincial and Federal Government Ministries keep hearing our perspective on our key issues like the land-use planning, infrastructure funding, Highway 417, and many others,” said Warden Murphy.
Nominations for Warden closed on Tuesday, November 14 and no other members of County Council put forth their name as a candidate for Warden.
Warden Murphy was born and raised in Toronto and she moved to Eganville in February 2000 because she loved the area. Her father’s family is from the Osceola area and she spent many weekends and most vacations at the homestead prior to moving. Warden Murphy and her husband Dave opened Murphy’s Auto Service in Renfrew in January 2001. She is a proud step-mother to two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Laura.
