The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region receive a report for information purposes as it provides an update on the development of the Business Retention & Expansion project.
Business Outreach Officer Scott Hamilton presented the report and said the project would go live on social media on December 16.
“On February 1st is our survey launch date.” He said. “We hope to have digital and in-person surveys available, COVID restrictions permitting.”
“April 3 will be our survey closing date.”
He said there were 402 NASIC-code businesses in Whitewater Region, and that 33% if business are agricultural businesses, including independent farmers and agricultural supplies.
He said the 100 businesses have closed in Whitewater in the last ten years, with 350 lost jobs due to that.
He said the project would include advertisements and “requests for community involvement” in order to support “the retention and expansion of existing businesses”.
Mayor Moore asked if Councillor Mackay at anything to say.
He said. “It’s gonna be good.”
