Buy Local Contest

Whitewater Region Township
COBDEN — The Township of Whitewater Region (WWR) is building a directory for its website to encourage the WWR Community to “Buy Local”. Phase 1 of the campaign is to identify every service and product available in WWR. Initial research shows that the number one reason for buying outside WWR is lack of information. If they don’t know or remember it is available here they go elsewhere to get it.
We would like to motivate WWR residents to suggest businesses and resources. Two draws will be organized. One draw for residents is for a 46 inch television. The second draw is for business owners for a laptop computer. Only a person residing in or operating a business in WWR is eligible to win. There is no limit to the quantity of entries per resident or business.
To enter the draw you need to suggest the name of any business or resource on a ballot. Paper ballots and ballot boxes will be located at businesses all over WWR. Electronic ballots will be at www.whitewaterregion.ca. A ballot with an eligible submissions will become one ticket into the residents’ draw. If a ballot with an eligible submission is entered at a business, it becomes one ticket into the residents draw as well as one ticket for the business into the business draw.
The following is a guideline of the types of businesses and resources within the boundaries of Whitewater Region that are eligible submissions:
Registered businesses in WWR
Unregistered businesses in WWR

Any type and size of farming operation

there is no other similar or competing service offered in WWR.
We reserve the right to decide the eligibility of any and all submissions to ensure a fair program. We would still like to encourage submissions that have questionable eligibility but don’t be upset if we need to rule them as ineligible.
If you think you know a lot about Whitewater Region, this is the perfect time to use that knowledge to try to win yourself a fine prize and you will be helping your local businesses.
This project has the potential to be very popular in Whitewater Region. If your business would like to participate, contact Andrew Kenny at 613 646-2282 ext 33. A business can participate in 2 ways. Sign up to be a ballot box location for a chance to win the business prize. The first 60 businesses will receive special ballot boxes. A business can also sign up as a sponsor for the prizes to have their business name on the 60 ballot boxes.
The contest will commence when we have sufficient sponsorship for the prizes.
No business or individual will be put on the directory without their permission.
