RENFREW — MacKenzie Motors celebrated 60 years of receiving support from the community by continuing a tradition of giving back.
From its humble beginnings on the front lawn of the home of founder William “Mack” MacKenzie, the dealership grew, moving to its current location in 1962, where it continues to thrive and expand to this day. As he grew a successful business, Mack MacKenzie also gave back to the community.
“My father was a supporter of the hospital and I want to keep that legacy going,” says Greg MacKenzie, who took over as the dealer principal from his father.
Sixty years is a long time for a dealership to be in business he added.
“The community has been fabulous to us,” he said. “Everybody has supported us and we want to do it back.”
RVH CEO and president Randy Penney said, “The MacKenzie family has been a wonderful donor and supporter of RVH over the years. We are grateful for this donation and the long tradition of support.”
On September 14, the MacKenzie family and staff hosted an anniversary celebration at the dealership. In addition to the BBQ and balloons, and hourly deals on pre-owned vehicles, the family presented a $25,000 cheque to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation.
“We are very thankful for the ongoing commitment of MacKenzie Motors to support local healthcare through the RVH Foundation,” said Sarah Robinson, RVH Foundation executive director. “It goes a long way in helping to ensure that RVH has the equipment and technology needed to provide quality care close to home.”
