COBDEN – The Muskrat Lake Boat Launch repairs were recently completed. The repairs were scheduled between September 14-30. The project was completed within this timeline.
The original project was budgeted at $62,000.00 to repair the crater like holes at the end of the launch, preventing boating and fishing enthusiast from using the ramp. The repairs extended the launch upgrading to a gradual and even slope. Bonnechere Excavating Inc. (BEI) performed the work.
Civitan Club generously donated $5,000.00 to the project. The funds were raised through their annual ice fishing tournament, held on Muskrat Lake.
Civitan Club President John Cull said, “The club plans to continue this tournament despite these different times.” Cull also said the format of the tournament will change from a one-day tournament format to that of a nine-day tournament, limiting the mass amounts of people on the lake at one time. The tournament raises several thousands of dollars every year, which is donated back to community causes.
Mayor Mike Moore added, “We are thrilled to have finally completed and improved this launch. We were happy to complete this work, given the delays of spring flooding, ministry approvals and the current pandemic.”
The Muskrat Lake Boat Launch resumed regular operations as of October 1st, when it was officially open to the public.
