Connie’s story Tear Down That Partition brought back youthful memories.
In a previous life, I spent 4 years as a combat engineer in West Germany in very tense times. Life was normal in Frankfurt, Munich etc but on occasion, I would find myself at the border, locked and loaded, staring at Soviet tanks and guard towers. The same was at Check Point Charlie in West Berlin, basically a hole in the wall with an American Guard Shack on west side and a Soviet one on the east. It served as a diplomatic passage and a bloody escape route for daring East Berliners.
The Berlin Wall divided both physically and philosophically. That partition did the same. It reversed the role of government which should be to serve the people. Kudos to Council. Way to go!!
