The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved a by-law pursuant to Section 54 (2) of the Planning Act to delegate the authority for the giving of consents under Section 53 of the Planning Act in respect of land in a Township of Whitewater Region to the Committee of Adjustment.
Any severance application after May 1st will be processed by the Township of Whitewater Internally by the Committee of Adjustment.
Burton recommended that the Committee should continue reviewing them moving forward.
Burton said that the Township would have to send a yearly report to the County, and have a reviewer on staff.
He said they would advertise for the position over the next few months.
“We hope that staff resources will be sufficient to manage this.” Burton said.
Councillor Nicholson asked if the Township would keep the charges from the applications, but asked if they would be paying less to the county.
Burton said that it shouldn’t affect property taxes or application fees, but the ‘total cost for the application will be less’, at 850.
Councillor Jackson thanked Reeve Regier for moving the process forward.
“I think it’s a move forward in our development process.” she said. “350 dollars did not cover our costs at the time, but having our own planner will let the Township of Whitewater to steer our own ship forward.”
Mayor Moore said that “at the start, it didn’t seem the County was willing to play ball,” but acquiesced in the end.
The motion was carried, however, technical difficulties made the Youtube stream choppy, with long pauses and missed moments.
