PEMBROKE — Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley (CLUOV) has made it a point to bring engaging speakers to its annual general meeting, and inviting the public to hear them. This year is no different as Nick Foley, an inclusion advocate with a message directed at youth, is the keynote speaker.
Mr. Foley is a member of the Canadian Youth Speakers Bureau and has delivered keynotes on inclusion and empowerment throughout North America. He is also the author of two books. “Act Like You’ve Been There: Rules For My Brother” is a guide to living with integrity and perpetuating good citizenship. “Kapernakus” is a children’s book focusing on self-esteem and inclusion. Mr. Foley makes presentations to schools, businesses and sports teams all over Canada.
“We felt it was a good time to bring in a speaker with a message for youth and those responsible for inclusion in Renfrew County,” says Chris Grayson, CLUOV Executive Director. “Making sure everyone feels included is a message that we want our youth to hear so that it becomes a way of life for the future.”
Community Living’s annual general meeting is on Thursday, September 21st at the Clarion Hotel in Pembroke. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. The agency’s business will take about 30 minutes and the remaining hour will be Mr. Foley’s presentation. The public is welcome to attend as there is no charge. Refreshments will be served.
