Councillor Mackay called it “a waste of money”.

Councillor MacLaughlin suggested the hall above the arena, admitting he didn’t know if it would accommodate livestreams.

According to CAO Trembley, the limit of people in the room mandated by the health unit is 10. He stated that the goal was to grant more access to the public while maintaining online accessibility.

Councillor Nicholson cited it as ‘a good investment for the future’, allowing the public greater access to the council meetings.

“If we don’t act now, expect to be meeting on Zoom in September.” Trembley said.

Clerk Miller cited accountability to the public for why video and audio facilities are required.

The motion was then voted on, and carried.
