Councillor Chris Olmstead released a statement on the code of conduct investigation against him.
Code of conduct allegations have recently been leveled against me by Mr Harold Gilchrist.
This is regarding an incident on the afternoon of January 21 when he tried to run me over with his vehicle, then block my path with his vehicle.
The allegations made by Mr Gilchrist are indisputably false, as has been proven with video evidence.
I am not at liberty to provide further details of the incident or conversations afterward due to a pending defamation suit against Mr Gilchrist.
Councillor Chris Olmstead
Whitewater Region
The Council for the Township of Whitewater Region heard a motion at August 3rd’s to receive the report from Integrity Commissioner Tony Fleming regarding the investigation.
However, they would not vote on the motion until CAO Ivan Burton suggested splitting it into two parts: one to receive the motion, and the other to send a letter of reprimand to Councillor Chris Olmstead as advised in the report.
The Council voted to receive the report, advised by CAO Burton that it must be made public, but did not vote to send the letter.
Councillor Olmstead was not present at the August 3rd meeting.
The report will be included in next week’s meeting on August 17.
