Kent Randall, Principle Planner for Ecovue Consulting Company, presented before the Council with an outline of Zoning By-law Update, Growth Readiness and Development Standards.
He outlined the Growth Readiness Action Plan, a “plan or strategy in dealing with the growth pressures in the Whitewater region, but to provide a plan for where the municipality where to go.” planned for January/February 2022.
He also outlined a Development Standards plan that would create “a set of standards for planning and development, including guidance/guidelines for site planning, road building, landscaping and other similar site works.
This was planned for March 2022.
He also outlined a plan to combine the Municipality’s four zoning bylaws into a single, Comprehensive Zoning By-law planned for August of 2022.
“We do have a pretty good experience with mid size and rural municipalities.” he said. “We know the factors that go into planning in smaller municipalities.”
He gave examples of tourism or waterfront growth for potential options.
Mayor Moore asked: “How do we pertain to lame duck status.”
“You would only be in lame duck status if 2/3 of the council is not returning. “CAO Trembley said. Saying that the plan is 21 years in the making. “the limitations due to lame ducks status does not apply here.”
