RENFREW COUNTY — In response to the continuing COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services announced additional measures to support those in need on Monday, March 23.
Financial assistance can be provided to individuals through local Ontario Works offices. Emergency funds are available for those in financial crisis who have no access to other supports, including those who are waiting for support from the Federal Government to become available.
Discretionary funds have also been made available for those currently in receipt of social assistance. This funding can be used to meet a broad range of emergency needs, including cleaning supplies, transportation, food or clothing.
“We Feel Strongly that nobody should have to worry about providing for themselves or their families at this difficult time. Our Social Services Manager and staff are working with the Province to implement processes to make funds available to the residents of Renfrew County as soon as possible,” said James Brose, Chair of the County of Renfrew Social Services Committee.
Individuals can apply online at Ontario.ca/community and are asked to contact their local Ontario Works office for more information.
The Ontario Works offices can be reached by telephone in Renfrew at 613-433-9846 or toll free at 1-888-281-7526; in Pembroke at 613-732-2601 or toll free at 1-866-897-4849; in Arnprior at 613-623-5426 or toll free at 1-844-623-5426; or in Killaloe at 613-757-0770.
