WHITEWATER REGION (Beachburg) — An annual tradition of the Rosenow family in Beachburg has begun.
Each Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, for the past four years, Loreyna Rosenow has been donating turkeys and hams to families who have asked for one.
“We usually give away about 30 of them,” she said. “People are very appreciative.”
This is a good message for her children, Annie, 7, and Mitchel, 4, Ms. Rosenow said.
“This is our way of giving back to the community,” she said.
Speaking about Christmas only, Ms. Rosenow said, “Christmas is more than just getting toys.”
Ms. Rosenow purchased the turkeys and recently posted on Beachburg and Area Yard Sale on Facebook that the turkeys are ready and those who want one can leave a message. She said sometimes it’s the people themselves signing up or others sign up people whom they feel need a turkey.
Free Christmas turkeys to Beachburg families. A Christmas gift from our family to yours. Please comment and I will contact you for pick up location. If you need delivery that is available as well. Cooked Christmas meals available as well and can be delivered hot and ready to enjoy.
She noted since it’s been going on for the past four years, the give-aways are well known. Also, since she’s a teacher, she is also familiar with families who may need or want a turkey. She also has a friend who drives for CareFor, so is also familiar with who may need or want a turkey.
“It’s very low-key,” Ms. Rosenow said. “(The turkeys) are only available for those who live in the Beachburg area.”
She noted people can pick up the turkeys or she and children will drop them off.
“It’s fun to give them away,” she said.
A single mother, Ms. Rosenow doesn’t have the best of health, but is blessed with family and many friends.
