WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) —
Although this year the weather seems to be a few weeks behind, the fiddleheads are right on time sticking their heads out of the ground, and I look forward to having a snack or two before they get too big.
I remember a number of years ago, when my body was a lot thinner and my hair a lot longer, I picked a bunch for myself, and decided to give some to Mother and Dad.
When I dropped them off there was no one home, so I left them in a bowl on the kitchen counter where it would be sure to be seen.
When I came back a couple of days later, it was still the bowl and its contents were sitting
in the same spot, so I asked Dad why they didn’t eat the fiddleheads I left for them.
He replied, “Fiddleheads? I thought it was marijuana.”
