WHITEWATER REGION — On Saturday, September 7, singer/song-writer Brenda McLaughlin is releasing her first all original CD, “Heart of an Ottawa Valley Girl,” at Batstone’s Northern Ramble, 45 Railway Avenue in Renfrew.

Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, McLaughlin learned to ride her bicycle on the streets of Foresters Falls, and grew up on Storyland Road in the outskirts of Renfrew.

Her songwriting reflects her genuine love and respect for her family, the people of the Ottawa Valley, and our Canadian Military Heroes.

McLaughlin has been entertaining classic country lovers and has shared the stage with the bands, such as Unwound, at Country Music Festivals in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec for the past five years. Her new album embodies scenes of the Valley, views from Storyland Hill, fields of wildflowers, combined with heartfelt moments and soulful community living.

McLaughlin lost two of her siblings to a rare genetic illness, meta- chromatic leukodystrophy (MLD); $2 from every CD sold supports MLD research at The Bethany’s Hope Foundation, in London Ontario.

“Come Home With Me,” was written by McLaughlin in memory of her brother Delmer and sister Colleen, who passed away at the ages of 19 and 14 from this debilitating disease.

A former Public Servant at Veteran’s Affairs Canada for over 15 years, McLaughlin wrote “We Salute Our He- roes” as a reflection of her pride and respect for our Canadian Military.

McLaughlin will be releasing 11 of her original songs on her CD. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online at www.Brendalovesthevalley.com.
