The Council of Whitewater Region helds its Regular Council Meeting on November 16 at the Municipal Hall in Cobden.
The meeting was livestreamed on Youtube at 4:45pm.
Clerk Carmen Miller opened the meeting, who swore in the new Mayor and Councillors elected.
Pastor Mike Cosco performed the blessing, and Khloe Bertrand sung the Canadian National Anthem.
“I speak a blessing of health, I speak a blessing of health, I speak a blessing of wisdom over them.” Pastor Cosco said.
Mayor Neil Nicholson was sworn into office, along with four new Councillors: Mark Bell, Connie Tabbert, Joey Trimm, and former Mayor Michael Moore.
Former Reeve Cathy Regier was also sworn in as Deputy Mayor.
Returning Councillor Chris Olmstead was not present at the meeting.
“I want to thank all of our families and our friends, those that are here and who could not make it tonight, for their support in the recent election.” Mayor Nicholson said. “it’s largely through their efforts and their encouragement that we sit here this evening.”
He also thanked previous Councillors Daryl McLaughlin, Dave Mackay, and Charlene Jackson for their service.
“The amalgamation that happened just over twenty years ago brought together a number of independent, well-organized and tremendously active communities together to create this township. And since then, our communities have continued to evolve and grow in new ways. Demographics are changing, and with it, the needs and wants of our residents.”
The meeting ended at 5:18pm.
