WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — It was a monster mash, rainy afternoon on Sunday, but that didn’t stop parents from bringing their children, in costume, to the Halloween party thrown at Cobden’s Royal Canadian Legion by Amber Buchan. A fairy godmother greeted you upon arrival to receive a dusting, which allowed you to have candy.
Ms. Buchan organized games and activities for guests, along with her mother Lori Buchan, Youth Chairman for the Cobden Legion. Justin Spear, Alex Wynands, Raven Cole and Angela Flipsen were some of the other volunteers who helped throughout the event. Ms. Buchan runs children’s programs over the summer and has helped with youth events in previous years.
All of the volunteers were seen making slime, participating in the photo area, carving pumpkins, making lollipop ghosts, paper bag puppets and doing some Halloween colouring. The tables were full of guests who were given a hot dog lunch, juice, cookies and cupcakes.
Around 50 people were in attendance and enjoyed dancing to the wide variety of Halloween music, which drew many participants to the dance floor. Some of the costumes seen were witches, ghosts, pumpkins, princesses, ninjas, elephants, police men and firemen.
