Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is confirming that an individual at La Garderie les petites mains in Pembroke on 1253 Pembroke Street, West, has a positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). All children and staff who have been deemed to be a close contact of the positive case, have been given direction to go home immediately to self-isolate and arrange for testing. The daycare remains open to all other clients and staff.
RCDHU is working closely with La Garderie les petites mains to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff, children and the public. RCDHU staff is actively investigating the case and all high risk contacts will receive a standard text message from the RCDHU virtual assistant within 24 hours, notifying them that they have recently been exposed to COVID-19. All high risk contacts will be directed to complete the virtual assistant survey to complete contact tracing.
