The Council heard a recommendation: That Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approve the award the tender #2022-13 Landfill Grinding to Nad-Core Environmental at a cost of $23,150.40 inclusive of non-refundable H.S.T., for the annual grinding of the lumber, brush, leaf & yard waste and bulky item stockpiles.
Roads Department Manager Lane Cleroux said the tender would be used to grind the materials to serve as landfill cover and save landfill space.
“We actually stockpiled couches and mattresses to to have them all ground this year.” he said.
Councillor McLaughlin asked if the tipping fee for large objects covered the cost of grinding, and Cleroux said it was “close”.
The motion was carried.
