Let’s end this dog tag saga — answers for Donald Deer

Dear Editor:

If Donald Deer wants answers I have them:

  1. A previous council did bring the dog-tag matter to court and they were right to do so. I don’t think it’s fair that two individuals feel that the taxpayers of the township should subsidize their dog tags. These two are running in this election, if you want answers about why all this time and money has been wasted why not ask them?
  2. Remember that the real cost to the taxpayer was because council was then counter-sued by these two. Nothing was resolved and we’re still wasting time talking about it.
  3. $20,000 was never paid to a lawyer. We have insurance for things like fringe groups suing the township. A fraction was paid as a deductible. These numbers are public information.

If Mr. Deer is frustrated because he can’t get answers I invite him to take the time to call us. We have the facts.

Dave Mackay

Councillor, Township of Whitewater Region
