The Whitewater Region Public Library Board is hoping volunteers from the community will step forward and sit on the board.
The library board recently accepted the resignation of two board members, long-time volunteer Helen Francis and Alison Smith.
Under the Public Libraries Act, the municipal clerk is to post for vacancies as soon as possible and council has a duty to appoint members to the board that have the same term as council, explained Robert Tremblay, Chief Administration Officer for the township, at the Jan. 24 council meeting.
The board currently has the bare number of board members, he said, which is five members. There is also a representative from council. Board Chair Gwen Bennett and Chief Executive Officer Debbi McLaughiln have said the municipality can advertise for two members which will sit until the end of this term of office.
Once the members have been appointed, the bylaw will be updated, CAO Tremblay said.
