WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — If you were listening to Pure Country on 96.7 FM last Friday, August 2 then you had the pleasure of listening to Miss. Hailey Corrigan from Cobden give the local weather report.

Every Friday morning, one child is chosen to join Pure Country Mornings with Brian Burton and Tony Grace to read the weather live on air.

Excited to receive the phone call letting her know she won, Miss. Hailey headed down to the station in Pembroke, Ont. with her mom, Mrs. Heather Corrigan.

Miss. Hailey was nervous to be on the radio and said the nerves only slightly went away once she began talking. She said the hosts were very nice and helped her to feel less nervous.

“I enjoyed being on the air and giving the weather [report]” said Miss. Hailey.

Miss. Hailey received a $25 gift card from the Pembroke Mall for being chosen from the online form Mrs. Corrigan said she filled out and submitted.

Going into grade four in September, she doesn’t dream of being a meteorologist but this experience has sparked a slight interest in the subject.

For now, Miss. Hailey is happy engaging in her many other interests. They include, “swimming, step dancing, hockey, soccer and baseball,” she said.

She is looking forward to spending the rest of the summer with her dog Shadow, who is her best four-legged friend. Miss. Hailey is also looking forward to swimming at her family reunion happening later this month, moving into her newly renovated house and for the surprise Mrs. Corrigan says they have planned for her after the family reunion.

The rest of the summer for the Corrigan family appears to have nothing but clear, sunny skies ahead.
