WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — On Sunday, May 31 Hazel Hawthorn celebrated her birthday and turned 95 years young. Social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic meant the celebration needed to be altered.
So at 10:00 a.m., members of Grace United Church and friends sang happy birthday to her outside of her house at 38 Gould St. in the village of Cobden. There was a 22 vehicle convoy of neighbours, church members and friends.
The birthday girl also received a birthday cake and many gifts, including “two beautiful planters” from the Historical Society.
