COBDEN — Jordan Durocher joins the Township of Whitewater Region staff team and Randy Buckwalt is promoted to Supervisor of Roads.
Mr. Durocher will become the Manager of Community Services on Monday, April 10.
Mr. Durocher has worked in the Recreation, Tourism & Culture Department at the City of Pembroke since 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Recreation & Leisure Studies from Brock University and a Diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services from Canadore College.
This new position was created in January. The Manager is responsible for the development, planning, administration and management of community services, including special events, trails and accessibility. This position serves as the liaison between the township and community partners and volunteers, including the various recreation associations that receive funding from the township. The Manager is also appointed as the Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator (CEMC), supervises crossing guards, recreation summer students, and oversees the park maintenance contract.
More than 60 applications were received. The hiring panel, comprised of Mayor Hal Johnson, Councillors Cathy Regier and Chris Olmstead, CAO/Clerk Robert Tremblay and Treasurer/Deputy CAO Marsha Hawthorne, interviewed 11 candidates.
Mr. Buckwalt, who has worked for the township since 1999, assumed the duties of Supervisor of Roads on Monday, March 20. He is a Certified Road Supervisor and completed road maintenance and construction courses through T. J. Mahoney Road School.
The new position of Manager of Physical Services will be filled this spring.
