PEMBROKE – The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP reently participated in Operation Impact over the Thanksgiving long weekend from October 7 to October 10.
This national traffic safety initiative focused on the four main causal factors in motor vehicle collision deaths: distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving and lack of occupant restraint.
Over the course of the four day campaign Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers laid several Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges including 80 charges for speeding, 13 hazardous moving violations, 11 distracted driving charges and five seatbelt violations.
In addition to the HTA charges, officers also laid five Criminal Code charges for Impaired Driving / Over 80mg during Operation Impact.
