COBDEN — The Muskrat Watershed Council (MWC) has received two funding commitments from Jp2g Consultants Inc. Pembroke. One portion of Jp2g’s donation ($2,000) will provide for half the cost of MWC’s report on 2015 water quality monitoring data. This second annual report will provide analysis of water sampling data, draw comparisons to 2014 results and consider new solutions for Muskrat Lake and its watershed.
Jp2g will also make a donation of $1,000 to support the MWC’s ongoing work for 2016-17. Jp2g is now one of the first Gold Level Corporate & Club members of the Muskrat Watershed Council.
Jp2g Consultants Inc. is an employee owned, multi-discipline consulting firm providing a comprehensive range of engineering, planning, environmental, and project management services to the public and private sectors, from offices located in Ottawa and Pembroke. Their team includes over 75 dedicated professional engineers, planners, hydrogeologists, technicians, specialists and administrative support personnel, providing a full range of mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, planning, environmental, and project management services. Jp2g Consultants Inc. was formed in September 2000 through the merger of the Pembroke Office (established 1971) and Ottawa Office (established 1996) of The Greer Galloway Group Inc. with Janota Patrick & Associates Ltd. (established 1986) in Pembroke.
The Muskrat Watershed Council is a volunteer, community-based, not-for-profit organization whose goal is to improve water quality for our local communities by using scientific and local-based knowledge. We seek to engage and empower people and communities in identifying and reducing nutrient loading from all sources on the Muskrat Lake Watershed.
Twenty-dollar personal memberships have provided core support for MWC’s operations since 2014. As its work in the watershed continues to expand to include annual water sampling, shoreline buffers and controlled tile drainage projects for 2016, MWC is seeking to grow partnerships and fundraising support through the addition of corporate and club Memberships.
Over the last two years, local businesses and community groups have supported MWC in many ways including in-kind contributions of time and services, door prizes and cash donations. MWC is now seeking corporate and club members to work with us in support of a healthy watershed for the future. Corporate and club members of the Muskrat Watershed Council will be recognized at the following donation levels each year: Gold – $1,000 and up; Silver – $500 – $999; Bronze – $200-$499; and Friend of MWC – $20 – $199
Membership donations will be directed towards projects, research and operations of MWC – wherever funds are needed most. Gold level Corporate & Club Members have the opportunity to work with MWC to direct all or part of their donation toward key areas of research, community outreach and best management projects in the watershed. All corporate and club members will be recognized on the MWC website and social media platforms, in newsletters and at events such as MWC’s Annual General Meeting, which is Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Cobden Legion starting at 9 a.m.
