(PETAWAWA) – In the early afternoon of May 24, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded after human remains were located in the Petawawa River by a member of the public. The remains were located in the Petawawa River in the area of West Street in the Town of Petawawa. The Petawawa Fire Department assisted police in the recovery effort.
The office of the Chief Coroner, OPP’s Forensic Identification Services and the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Crime Unit are continuing the investigation. A post-mortem will be conducted to identify the remains and determine a cause of death. Updates will be provided as they become available.
