WHITEWATER REGION — On February 1 and 2, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Snowmobile, ATV and Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Unit were on patrol on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trails in the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment area.
On the morning of February 1, SAVE unit officers stopped and checked a Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) driver on Muskrat Lake. Also on February 1, the SAVE unit checked a 26 year old Ottawa resident who was ice fishing on Muskrat Lake. The person was found to have open liquor in public and they were charged under the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).
On the afternoon of February 2, SAVE unit officers checked an occupied motor vehicle stopped near the OFSC trail on Shaw Woods Road in North Algona-Wilberforce (NAW) Township. Open alcohol was observed in the vehicle and the 60 year old driver from NAW was charged with having open liquor in a vehicle under the LLA. Police seized the alcohol from the vehicle.
