EGANVILLE — As milder temperatures and a warming sun offer the promise of spring, area residents are surely wondering where the Friends of the Library will be transporting them at this year’s spring dinner and fundraiser.
With great excitement and anticipation, the Friends announce that they are partnering with the Astro AllStars to offer our guests an evening that will be “Out of This World”. Your extraterrestrial experience will begin on arrival as you are greeted by a friendly alien. The Astro AllStars are planning an array of activities that will not only entertain, challenge and stimulate you, but also extend your knowledge of nebulae, physics, and meteorites. You will be invited to go meteorite hunting, test your knowledge of space in a trivia contest, and view a distant planet, just to name a few of the possibilities. Guests are encouraged to don costumes appropriate for aliens and extraterrestrials, but costumes are optional.
Of course, food for the mind and imagination must also be complemented by food for the body, regardless of how many arms or eyes you may have. The Ladies’ Legion Auxiliary will again be offering roast turkey and mashed potatoes while the Friends will complete the sumptuous buffet with hot vegetables, baked beans, casseroles, including vegetarian offerings, a variety of colourful salads, and, of course, a table of homemade desserts to satisfy every sweet tooth.
There will be a silent auction with several enticing items up for bids, including a romantic getaway for two at a charming lake side log cabin.
This not to be missed event takes place at the Eganville Legion on Saturday, April 23 with Blast Off at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and are for sale at the Bonnechere Union Public Library. Only 125 tickets (the number chosen to align with the Eganville 125 anniversary celebrations) are available. Don’t ground yourself here on Earth and miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance to go on your own star trek.
All proceeds from this evening “Out of this World” benefit the Bonnechere Union Public Library.
