The Township of Whitewater Region reviewed a proposal to enter an agreement for an unopened portion of Powers Road.

Councillor Carmen Miller said that the original agreement was never registered, and with two new people on the title an the previous occupant passed away, a new agreement would be required.

Mayor Moore asked Ivan Burton who had responsibility for removing brush, and Burton said that it would be the “responsibility of the homeowner.”

Councillor Nicholson asked if any private road on the land would have a road standard agreement. Burton said that there was no proposed road but if so, they would have to make a proposal to Council.

Councillor McLaughlin asked if there was a previous agreement involving the property, and that the previous agreement was for a road that was “not maintained”.

“We need to get it on title, and clean it up.”

Burton said that Mr. Blair Black, the adjacent property owner, as not informed, but the new owner is the son of the previous occupant.

“We don’t anticipate he would have any concerns.” he said.

McLaughlin said that they should inform Mr. Black of the changes.

CAO Trembley said that this would have never come to council if it had been registered in the first place, and it’s only because it wasn’t that this needs to be ‘cleaned up’, but agreed to let Mr. Black know.

The motion was carried.
