The Township of Whitewater Region held its first Regular Council Meeting of the year on January 19, at 4:45pm.
The meeting was broadcast on Youtube via Zoom call and uploaded there.
For Announcements, Reeve Regier said that the County Budget Workshop occurred on Monday, January and was passed with a tax impact 6.56 percent increase, which she said was “$100,000 impact on the value of every home.”
She said that they “passed it in record time, so it was great.”
“All I’ve been doing for the last two days – shoveling snow. I’m done with it.” Councillor Mackay said.
Councillor Nicholson provided highlights from a webinar from the Minster of Infrastructure, outlining a plan to provide internet to 99% of Ontario residents by 2025, as a combination of fiber, low-orbit satellite, and broadband.
“The meeting was really about how municipalities can support this really quick rollout, specifically with process and permits.” he said. “It’s promising for Whitewater region.”
There were no notices of motion, and after the by-laws were approved, the Township went into closed session to discuss three human resources matters at 5:17pm, at which point the public stream ended.
