PEMBROKE — The Renfrew County District School Board has ratified a new collective agreement with the local bargaining group representing the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO).
The Board of Trustees voted to approve the contract last night and follows an earlier vote by the teachers that was held on February 18.
“This round of bargaining was a positive experience,” said Dave Shields, Chair of the Board. “There was a real effort to work collaboratively and we were able to reach a mutual agreement on issues that will sustain our high quality student learning environment.”
The Board also ratified the tentative local settlement that covers Elementary Occasional Teachers. Occasional teachers will vote on March 22. If approved, the contract will extend until August 31, 2017.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario represents 78,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals across the province. Nearly 500 members are in the RCDSB system, including contract staff.
