The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP investigated calls 197 for service during the past week.
Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated six domestic disputes during the past week. One female was charged with assault and domestic mischief. No other criminal offences took place.

Break and Enter
During the past week officers responded to three reports of break, enter.
On Tuesday, March 21 the owner of a vacant home on Queen’s Line reported the property had been broken into. The break in occurred sometime between mid-December 2016 and March 20, 2017. A door on the second floor of the home was damaged. Provincial Constable Patrick O’Connor is investigating.
Another vacant home in the Township of Whitewater Region was reported to have been broken into. Provincial Constable Amanda Carruthers is investigating the break in on Foresters Falls Road at the intersection of Queens Line. Evidence indicated the break in occurred overnight on Wednesday, March 22. Extensive damage was done to the home and contents. The investigation is continuing.
Money, video games and a Play station were stolen on Wednesday, March 22 from a home on Stewart Street in Renfrew. The owner advised they were out for approximately 30 minutes during the evening and returned home to find the items missing. Physical evidence was seized from the scene. Provincial Constable Tina Hunt is investigating.

Thefts
On Thursday, March 23, in the afternoon, police attended No Frills in Renfrew in response to a shoplifter in custody. Police continued the arrest of the female after learning the facts of the case. Shannon Lafleur, 44, of Gatineau, was released from custody on an appearance notice for court in Renfrew on Wednesday, April 19 charged with theft under $5,000. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.

On Wednesday, March 22, around noon, two females attended the home Hardware location in Arnprior. They went into the store with a baby carriage and hid several items inside the stroller. There was no baby in the stroller. One suspect then distracted an employee and the other left the store. They were seen getting into a dark coloured newer SUV. They are both described as being of Asian descent, approximately 30 years of age, wearing dark coats with fur on the hood with black and white dyed hair tied in a bun. The theft was captured on video surveillance. Provincial Constable Denys Baranovskiy is investigating.
Police are investigating after a male was reported to have stolen a bottle of liquor from the LCBO in Renfrew. Police were called on Wednesday, March 22 at approximately 1:30 pm. Provincial Constable Amanda Carruthers is investigating. Video surveillance of the theft is being reviewed.
Three lawn chairs were stolen from an unlocked shed on Bank Street in Renfrew overnight on March 21-22. The owner advised one red, one green and one yellow lawn chair were each stolen. There are no suspects.

Mischief
On Thursday, March 23 police were advised that the bird feeders of the McNamara Field Naturalist club located along McNab Street in Arnprior were pulled down and smashed last night by unknown persons. The bird seed in a nearby storage bin was also damaged and the seed was dumped on the ground.

Impaired Driver
On Thursdayn March 23, at approximately 3 a.m., Provincial Constable Troy Dobbie stopped a motor vehicle on Highway 17 in McNab Braeside Township for a traffic offence. Further investigation revealed the male driver had been drinking. The male refused to provide a sample of his breath for roadside alcohol screening. Nathan Baumann, 29, if Tay Valley Township, was charged for the offence. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, April 19.

Stunt Driver
Two motorists were charged in the Renfrew OPP area with stunt driving during the previous week. On Wednesday March 22 at 12:43 pm Sgt Derek McLeod stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Horton Township for speeding – more than 50 km/hr above the posted 90 km/hr posted limit. Charles Henry, 65, of Sudbury, was issued a summons for provincial offences court in Renfrew on April 28.
On March 26 at 11:27 pm Provincial Constable Dave Peace was on Highway 17 in McNab Braeside Township when he stopped an east bound motorist for speeding – more than 50 km/hr above the posted 90 km/hr posted limit. The driver Alejandro Fiszman, 20, of Ottawa, was issued a summons for provincial offences court in Renfrew on April 28.
