Emergency Preparedness Week 2018
Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week 2018 (May 6-12) is a Canada-wide initiative to increase awareness of individual and family preparedness. Ask yourself: are you prepared for an emergency which may leave you without water or power for extended period of time? The wind storm during the evening on Friday May 4 was a good example of an unexpected or sudden emergency which may leave you vulnerable. Do you have an emergency kit in your home? Would you be ok for about 72 hours in the event emergency services are unable to assist you? Take a moment this week and consider those questions. Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 12 domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with assault, one male was charged with two counts of domestic mischief, and one male was charged with overcoming resistance by choking, assault and three counts of domestic mischief. No other criminal offences were alleged.

Sexual Assault Investigations
Two separate sexual assault complaints were received by the Renfrew OPP during the past week. On Monday, April 30 a teenaged male reported being sexually assaulted by an adult male that the teen met on a social media site. As a result of the investigation, Michael Daly, aged 56 of Hastings Highland Township, was charged with sexual assault of a person under 16, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16. The accused was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, May 30. DC Barry Nisbet led the investigation.
On Friday May 4 an adult female reported being sexually assaulted in 2002. PC Lindsay Moore is leading the investigation.
Break and Enter
On the afternoon of Sunday, April 22, a residence on Stones Lake Road in Greater Madawaska Township was entered while the occupants were away. Legal records and documents along with personal banking documents were stolen. Also stolen was a Rotring 600 18k gold Bauhaus fountain pen. PC Patrick O’Connor is continuing to investigate.
Impaired Driver
A concerned citizen called the OPP after spotting a male driving a lawn tractor in Arnprior whom they believed was impaired. OPP officers stopped the male near the intersection of Daniel Street and Charles Street. The male had been drinking, had an open can of beer in a cup holder, and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. Following breath tests at the detachment, Russell George Smith, aged 66 of Arnprior, was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, and 2 counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. PC Derek Andrechek led the investigation.
Thefts
A wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot at NEAT in Burnstown. The vehicle was in the parking lot on Friday, May 3 from 5 to 11 p.m. The victim did not discover the wallet was stolen until the next morning. By the time it was reported to police, several stolen credit cards had been used at a few businesses in Ottawa. PC Kayla Couture is leading the investigation.
Police are investigating the theft of several boat motors from The White Lake Marina in White Lake. The victim advised that three Mercury motors were stolen, 120 horsepower, and two 9.9 horsepower between Friday, May 4 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 at 12 noon. A suspect vehicle was seen at the property on Saturday, May 5 at 11 p.m. The vehicle was an early 2000 dark blue four door Chevrolet pick-up with a scratch down the driver’s side of the truck, parked in the front entrance way. PC Kayla Couture is investigating.
