The Renfrew Victoria Hospital annual Golf Classic tournament is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023.

While it has seen many changes over the years, especially during the pandemic, the tournament is back in full swing on June 9th to mark the milestone.

One thing that has never wavered has been the support from the community, notes Foundation Executive Director Patti Dillabough.

“We’re very excited to have the Town of Renfrew on board as a Partner Sponsor this year. We are planning some new and innovative activities to mark this momentous anniversary,” said Dillabough.

Mayor Tom Sidney said the town wanted to support the 25th anniversary event and discussed with CAO Robert Tremblay what they could do.

“The hospital is vital to our community, and the Foundation does phenomenal work. We thought it was fitting for the town to be a partner and express our appreciation,” said Mayor Sidney.

As part of the Partner Package, a team representing the town, including Councillors Andrew Dick and Kyle Cybulski, will join the golfing action.

The anniversary edition of the tournament will include a Ball Drop at 5:30 pm. Yemen’s Electric is providing a lift to drop the numbered balls from 55 feet over the green with the closest to the pin winning $5,000. The Ball Drop event is sponsored by Chad Murray from Canadian Tire.

Once again, Ken Dillabough and Stephanie English of Protyre have donated a beautifully constructed 10’ x 12’ screened gazebo. A limited number of tickets are available and the draw will take place at the tournament with all proceeds going to RVH.

Tickets for the ball drop and the gazebo can be purchased online on the Foundation website (https://www.rvhfoundation.com/) or at the RVH Foundation Office. Tickets for the gazebo are also available at Protyre, Gourley’s Outdoors, and Renfrew Printing.

The day of golf will also be followed by a celebration cocktail reception featuring live music by Mitch Desilets.

A true indication of the level of support from the community is that the tournament sold out by mid-April and there are a number of teams on the waiting list.

“We are so appreciative of the Town of Renfrew for its sponsorship and to all of our sponsors at each level, as well as the donors and golfers. The success of our RVH Golf Classic and other Foundation events allows us to equip our medical team with the tools they need so they can provide the excellent level of care close to home,” stated Dillabough.

All proceeds from the 25th Annual RVH Golf Classic will be directed towards the purchase of capital equipment that is not funded by the government, but is critical in order for the hospital to provide the best possible care to our community.
