Four students at Cobden District Public School recently participated in the Renfrew County Science Fair. The participants were, front from left, Renie Takken and Justin Baycroft, and back from left, Katie Mick and Elyza Wren. Renie placed first in the Grade 7/8 Life Science with her You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Hound Dog project, trying to determine which music her dog, Chester, reacted to. Out of screamo, pop and classical, screamo won, she said. Elyza and Katie worked together on determining who had more sensitive hands, boys or girls. They weren’t surprised when they found out girls had higher pain tolerance. Justin placed second in the Grade 7/8 health sciences with his project A Delicious Nightmare, in which he was trying to determine how bad seven different drinks were. And in order of good to worse: water, sprite, sprite zero, orange crush, pepsi, diet coke and coke. He soaked a beef steak in each of the drinks and watch the reaction.
