The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP concluded its Canada Day Long Weekend Aggressive Driving Campaign which took place from June 29 to July 2.
The province-wide effort saw OPP officers focus on speeding drivers and all other forms of aggressive driving — which include following too closely, unsafe passing and lane changes, failing to yield right-of-way, and other dangerous, high-risk driving behaviours.
Over the course of the traffic safety initiative, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers laid several charges, including 52 speeding charges, 13 hazardous moving violation charges, and five Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges. Officers also laid five impaired driving charges under the Criminal Code and nine charges under the Liquor Licence Act.
